it isn’t that there’s nothing to say…

But it is that we have been bone-crushingly weary, burdened with many responsibilities.

We have had a few things going on…

  • A trip to the USA for some of my family applying for passports
  • A trip to Alberta to aid my parents in dealing with some business matters
  • A funeral
  • Aiding another pastor (from out of town) whose wife is very ill in our hospital
  • Preparing for a Creation Seminar we are hosting tomorrow (see www.gbcvic.org for details)
  • The normal stuff

And not to mention trying to keep up with the entire internet! (Well… the part we follow, anyway.

There are a number of interesting things to comment on, but they will have to wait for another day.

In the meantime, please pray for Pastor H and Mrs H, as you think of it. They are a faithful older couple, working on their last church plant. Mrs H is very very ill. We are much in prayer for her and for her husband.

    Don,

Can you help me understand your thinking on separation as it relates to this Creation seminar? A quick look through the calendar for this ministry finds them in a very wide variety of churches and ministries–Lutheran churches, Moody Bible Institute, and (seemingly) beyond.

I guess I had understood you to previously have argued against this kind of thing, so I must not be understanding your position very well.

    • Thanks for the question Dave.

In deciding on this particular event, I had some misgivings and am still not certain we made the right decision. The criteria that swayed me was that CMI is a specifically focused ministry, for the purpose of calling Christians back to orthodoxy, rather than for promoting ecumenical efforts or other compromises. However, I am bothered by the breadth of churches they are willing to go in, and for various reasons, I don’t think I would have these folks back. Count it as a learning experience.

And, FWIW, I have been concentrating on the care of this elderly pastor I mentioned. We just got back from the hospital where his dear wife passed on to glory about one hour ago. I am really not going to pursue our debates tonight!

No desire to debate and I will pray for this man and your ministry to him. I was genuinely curious about your thinking given some of the other things you’ve posted on.

  3. Thanks, I’ll get back to you on this, but today we are going to be occupied with helping our brother with many details. Please see my last post on the main page for a bit of an obituary.

  4. I love you Don, but I do think that Dave has a point here. I should assume that he has the best of motives in pointing this out to you. I would wonder though if Dave actually sees it as a problem or if he is just attempting to help you with inconsistencies. I think it is good to help people with inconsistencies, but that would mean that we’re all open to have them pointed out, including myself. I look forward to your explanation. I know you have had a lot going on, so there is no time expectation from me.
