@ Becky… no, no other pets. My wife is saying, “no more dogs”… but I’m thinking “well… we’ll see…”

We do love Cavaliers, though, so if we get another, probably would try for another Cavalier.

Don, I can commiserate with you. We lost our dog almost exactly a year ago, and like yours, we had to have her put to sleep. In fact, I can still feel some of the pain when I read accounts like yours. It is hard to put into words exactly how much love and feeling humans can have for an animal that possesses no soul, but I also find these partings painful, and look forward to the day when creation will be made right again.

Ah, our furry friends, compatriots, the other members of our family. They are missed, yes, but like loved ones. Understand the family feelings right now, we had to put down our beloved LeRoi, a black lab, this past February. He was not far from being 11 years old, so he lived a fairly normal lifespan.
Of all things we added a mini dachshund to the family last summer, which was a good thing considering what was to come some 7 months later.
